Ali Abbasi
Ali Abbasi born in Rasht, Iran in 1992 is a visual artist and art researcher whose source of inspiration is rooted in his phantasmal exploration in indigenous culture, history, mythology, surroundings and environment. By unsettling certainness and discomposing logical connections between visual items, he illustrates a world that is constantly changing its reality, a world full of unknowns, and exoticness that evoke questions.
In his latest projects, based on laboratory and experimental procedures, Ali’s methods of visualizing have been transfigured by subjective interpretation of chemical effect on art media. Applying usages of oxidization and acidizing, dissolved materials and colors, as well as practicing assemblage techniques and installation, Ali is converting his artistic approach toward a more space-based presentation.
So far, four books and several articles have been published by him analyzing the form and meanings of Iranian historical visual works and related rituals.
