The illustrated version of Karkia Shahnameh was compiled in Lahijan and at the court of Karkia Mirza Ali, and most likely in the presence of various artists from other parts of Iran, and it is highly important in several ways. First, it is a relic of the last dynasty of the native kingdom of Gilan during the Kiayi era, and it is significant in terms of studying the cultural and artistic situation of their crown in the 15th century. In addition, by examining the stylistics of the paintings in this version, their relationship with the common schools in the late period of Turkoman rule in Iran is determined. Also, the influence of this illustrated version on the emergence of a kind of folk art in the religious paintings of shrines is considerable.
An Introduction to Karkia Shahnameh written by Ali Abbasi won first place in the Book of the Year Festival in Iran in 2016.
