Illustrated version of Karkia Shahnameh by including several hundreds of paintings was illustrated in two volumes for Karkia Mirza Ali, one of the native rulers of Gilan. In addition to being a continuation of a historical tradition Karkia Shahnameh can introduce a native cultural heritage that is at risk of being forgotten. The illustrated version of Karkia Shahnameh which is also known as the ” Big Head Shahnameh” due to its technical features has been able to create one of the most magnificent illustrated versions of the Shahnameh with its plain style along with technical details.
Previously, in the book “Introduction to Karkia’s Shahnameh”, a brief review of this illustrated version was presented. Instead of that, in this study the main focus is on introducing and displaying the illustrated pictures of this book. In comparison to the previous book, more than one hundred pages of paintings have been added to this collection of pictures.
